Pick My Park

In October the Victorian Government announced a new $30 million program to create and upgrade more green spaces in growing suburbs – while giving residents a say on where they should be located. This program will create and upgrade green and open spaces in growing and established suburbs and give the community the opportunity to have their say on where to spend $30 million worth of funding.

Communities will be able to tell us about how they want to upgrade or better utilise existing parks, as well as identify where small and under-utilised urban spaces can be transformed. Landholders will also play a role in how and where parks and open spaces will be developed.

Funding for successful projects will range from $20,000 to $250,000 and will be available in two streams:

• Park upgrades: focusing on improving existing parks and open spaces.
• New urban parks: focusing on transforming under-utilised land in growing urban areas into new green, open spaces for the whole community to enjoy.

The program will then enable the community to vote on projects that suit the needs of their growing communities.
