Congratulations to the 2022 Living Local Fund: Suburban Grants Recipients.
On 12 October 2022, the Victorian Government announced funding to support 124 projects through the 2022 Living Local Fund Suburban Grants.
Grants between $20,000 and $200,000 each are supporting a range of projects in neighbourhood activity centres and shopping strips including upgrades to playgrounds, community gardens, community halls, paths and lighting as well as public art initiatives.

This will enable the Emerald Tennis Club to access these for night competition, training and coaching. |

CERES INC | Refurbishing and Reopening of the CERES Community Centre | Brunswick East | CERES will refurbish and transform the upper level of the CERES Community Centre into an accessible and vibrant community centre, comprising multi-use indoor spaces overlooking a village square. The Centre will be a feature of CERES' four-hectare park that brings the local community together for learning, connection and celebration. |

This new entrance will enable the back pool room to function as a multi-purpose seminar room with outdoor access for social engagement and also support improved ventilation as a preventative measure against the spread of COVID-19. |

The project will achieve this by “de-fencing” the Centre, removing both physical and metaphorical barriers to the Centre, improving accessibility, beautifying the Centre and encouraging greater community access to its public courtyard. |

Monash City Council | First Nations Inspired, Designed and Delivered Street Art Mural | Oakleigh | Monash City Council will commission street art that has links to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture and history of the area, creating an inviting and welcoming entrance to the Oakleigh Activity Centre. This will also respond to complaints from the community about graffiti on this large wall in Oakleigh. |
Monash City Council | Mount Waverley Reserve Playspace Enhancements | Mount Waverley | Enhancements to the Mount Waverley Reserve Playspace will include a community BBQ, shade sail, picnic table and drinking fountain. This will directly benefit the range of local schools, residents, businesses and sports clubs that use the Reserve, as the only significant open space and sport and recreation reserve in the local area, and further enhance accessibility and local opportunities for participation and connection. |

Moonee Valley City Council | Greening the Gateways to Centreway | Moonee Ponds | The project will see major landscaping and beautification works at key crossing points on the Centreway retail strip and the four matching gateway points into the central park known as FJ Davies Reserve. This will support local economic activity and create a place for community use and enjoyment. |
Mooroolbark Traders & Community Group Inc. | Mooroolbark Laneway Rejuvenation | Mooroolbark | The project will rejuvenate a tired laneway at the heart of Mooroolbark’s shopping precinct. Inspired by the local community, the rejuvenation will create enhance the streetscape, encourage shoppers to linger longer and visit more local businesses, raise community morale and provide a place for connection. |

The 3D artworks also highlight the strip's 'Where Main Street meets the Beach' brand. |
Merri-bek City Council | 260 Sydney Road Park - Close to Home | Brunswick | A new urban park within the Brunswick Activity Centre will be delivered as part of this project, providing quality open space for local residents, visitors and businesses.
